The City Manager serves as the chief administrative officer for the City of Kinston, NC, and is responsible for directing and supervising all municipal departments, including appointing and managing employees, executing laws, and preparing the annual budget.
Responsibilities:
Direct and supervise all municipal departments and appoint department heads.
Prepare the annual budget and capital improvement program.
Attend all City Council meetings and provide financial and administrative reports.
Act as the primary liaison between the City Council and municipal staff.
Lead strategic infrastructure and utility investments, community safety initiatives, economic development and downtown revitalization, and workforce development.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in public administration or a closely related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
Experience: Extensive management and leadership experience in finance, government, and public administration; experience overseeing a full-service municipality is required.
Attributes: Proven record of strategic leadership, passion for community building, and a collaborative management style.
