The Fixed Assets Unit at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a Budget Analyst to perform professional work in the preparation of the Department's Capital Commitment Plan.
Note: Only employees permanent in the Staff Analyst title and/or reachable on the Staff Analyst list will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare costing of linear projects using capital payment details.
- Review and prepare fixed asset entries and closing procedures for linear projects (sewer/water) for Financial Management System (FMS) interface.
- Ensure data compliance with Fixed Asset Unit requirements and archive data electronically.
- Investigate issues and provide recommendations; perform due diligence to ensure data integrity.
- Determine capital eligibility of BWT Job Order Contracts.
- Reconcile reported fixed asset values with FMS.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and generate memos using FMS, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping and apply City Fixed Asset Policies and Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, finance, accounting, business/public administration); OR
- A baccalaureate degree plus two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in budget administration, accounting, fiscal/economic research, or related management/administrative fields; OR
- An associate degree or 60 college credits plus four years of such experience; OR
- A high school diploma plus six years of such experience.
- A combination of education and experience is acceptable, provided the candidate has a high school diploma.
Salary: $72,595 - $92,976
